Before a search consultant calls you, and before a board member meets you, they look at your LinkedIn profile. For senior professionals, it is no longer an online CV. It is your executive brand, and it is working for you, or against you, every day.
Five fixes that make the biggest difference
- 1Your headline. Replace a bare job title with who you are, what you specialise in and the value you bring. “Chief Digital Officer | Enterprise transformation across the GCC | ServiceNow and AI at scale” is far easier to find and remember.
- 2Your About section. Tell a short story: what you do, the scale you work at, three results you are proud of and what you are known for. Write it in your own voice.
- 3Your experience. Add two or three measurable achievements under each senior role, not just a list of responsibilities.
- 4Your keywords. Include the terms search consultants actually use: your specialism, platforms, sectors and regions.
- 5Your proof. Recommendations from clients, peers and senior leaders carry real weight. Ask for them after a successful project, while it is fresh.
The finishing touches
- A recent, professional headshot with a clear face and simple background.
- A banner image that reflects your sector or your city, not the default.
- A consistent story with your CV: the same titles, dates and results.
- Occasional, thoughtful posts or comments on your field. Quality matters more than frequency.
Your LinkedIn profile is often your first interview. Make sure it tells the story you would tell in the room.
